Email your fans via PrestoSports

June 7, 2011   by Mike Donlin

There are a number of ways to get the word out through the admin system.

We’ve worked to make sending email campaigns as simple and efficient as possible. Whether it’s a preview, postgame, a press release, a newsletter or just a message you want to send out, it can be done through your website.

Previews and RecapsSuSeagulls.com

Your preview and game recaps may be shared from the Event Information page. As soon as your release is added, it’s available via the Share button.

Select Share, choose which release to share, hit the Email button, pick as many lists as you’d like to send to, decide which template and get it out there. Your release will auto-populate the text area for quick sending to fans, media lists or whoever you choose to send to.

Press Releases

Releases not associated with an event are also easy to share from Game day. Publish the release, select the link and use the Share button.

Automated Newsletters

Does your athletics office still compile weekly updates in a newsletter format? Do your coaches wish they could easily send updates to alumni lists? Those are just two of the many reasons for emailing an auto-created newsletter. The presentation will lead recipients back to your website, and it takes seconds to produce.

In Game day, select the Headlines tab, then choose the group of releases that you wish to send from. If it’s for all sports, choose your site headlines. If it’s sport-specific, it may come from your sport headlines or the season archives.

Add your subject, select who to send to, pick the template and check the boxes next to the releases you want to send. It’s that easy.

Your newsletter will include the thumbnail image, headline and lead-in for every chosen release.

Sending from Contacts and Website tabs

While the automated emails have made it easier to reach your target audience, the Contacts and Website tabs have maintained the flexibility for sending other messages.

From the Contacts tab, select the Send email button and build a page, type in or paste your message from Word.

From the Website tab, browse any file (or select the [browse] link) and an [email] link will appear under the Options menu on the right. You can then build your email from there.

More Tips

There’s so much to talk about with email updates. We hope to get to more of this in future posts, but here are some more tips to think about.

  • Allow the public to sign up for your updates. Create as many lists as you’d like
  • Add an attachment like a boxscore or headshot
  • Change the name or email address of sender (it defaults to yours)
  • Import your lists for media, hometowns, alumni groups, ticket lists and administrators
  • Reports are available for all campaigns (from the Reports link in the Contacts tab)

As you're planning for 2011-12, keep the email campaigns in mind as a means for increasing engagement with your audience and bringing more traffic to your website. Additional information can be found via the new Help Center or by emailing support@prestosports.com.
