Use the PrestoSports Network to share basketball packed files

November 29, 2011   by Serge Knystautas

I'm happy to announce that as of last week, you can upload and share basketball Stat Crew packed files using the PrestoSports Network. You do not need to be a PrestoSports website customer to use this...anyone in the PrestoSports Network gets to take full advantage of this for free!

Basketball packed files We're really excited to provide this because we know how convenient it is for soccer, field hockey and ice hockey. No more generating the XML reports and uploading that separately. In one simple step you can upload the original file and then share both the packed file and XML with anyone who needs it.

Your stats reports, your opponents' stats reports, reports on conference websites and conference awards all get updated by uploading the packed file, and we keep track of every change with versioning.

And if you have set up your men's and women's basketball teams to submit stats automatically to the NCAA, uploading a packed file to the PrestoSports Network will generate and send the NCAA with a copy of your game XML.

We're also selfishly excited about this milestone because of basketball's statistical complexity, and it means we're halfway through our promise to make our statistics network 100% compatible with Stat Crew Legacy.

We tested basketball extensively with over 120 packed files from users' past seasons, ensuring that we could correctly import and generate the same XML game report.  Since basketball packed file sharing was made available last week, we've already had over 50 basketball games updated with a packed file, and I only have a handful of reports where there was a problem. We'll be actively working all season to correct any problems, so please let us know if something doesn't look right.

The next sports that will get Stat Crew packed file compatibility are men's and women's lacrosse, followed by baseball and softball. That will leave just football and volleyball, which we will have in place in ample time for next year's fall sports.
