Don't be a fool, use the cropping tool

July 12, 2011   by Katie Butz

One of the quickest and easiest ways to give your site a sharp, clean look is through the pictures in your story rotator.  Your top headlines is one of the focal points of your site, and having a fuzzy, stretched out image can really throw off the look.  Add in a clear, eye-catching action shot and it can make all the difference. This can be easily accomplished using our cropping tool.

Our staff will set up your cropping tool to match the exact dimensions of your story rotator.  Upload your original photos and use the tool to size down the image and get it just right for your website.  Our cropping tool will not alter the original photo you uploaded, but rather make a copy in the newly sized dimensions.

To use our cropping tool, click the ellipse button to search for your thumbnail image as you normally would.  Select the image you would like to crop and then click the “crop” button which will appear below the image.  You have the option to have multiple pre-set cropping dimensions, so be sure to select the correct one from the drop down menu. Drag and expand the white box to select the part of the image you would like to crop. Finally, click the “Crop” button and our system will create the new image.

Why use this tool? Don’t waste your time cropping the image in Photoshop or another program.  Upload one image that can be used multiple times throughout your entire site.  On your upload, mark the original high-resolution photo for sale for your photo store.  Then crop that same image to use in any release.  If you need a new caption for the same image used in two separate recaps, crop the original again and give it a new caption.  Use the original photo to create an image for your changeable header images.

Ask our support team to set up more cropping dimensions to match the special features on your site.  We can configure cropping tools for athlete of the week, sponsor slideshows,  content pages, or whatever else you want!
