Infinity Scrolling on Releases Now Available

April 27, 2016   by Alana Dyson

Web design is a fast evolving industry where trends come and go very quickly. Designers, as well as web engineers, are always on the lookout out for new and innnovative ways to present the content of the website in a way that not only looks appealing, but make site visitors able to access, understand, digest and share the information that it has come to find — a worthy goal to have for any website.

We, at Prestosports have the same mantra to keep improving the ways in which fans interact with the websites and have more engaging user experiences. To this end, we have just released the Infinite Scrolling layout for the release page. The feature automatically loads related articles — releases found in the same section of the site to the release the user has landed to read — when the user reaches the end of the article. The layout also features a sidebar to the right of the article, from which the user can have a quick glance over all the related stories from the same sport and season (sorted in a chronological order).

A very neat attribute of the layout is, the user could bookmark or share any story without needing to load a separate browser window.

The feature can be turned on globally by adding the option Article: Infinite Scroll in the root of the site, or discretely turn on/off the feature for a specific section (for e.g /sports/bsb/) by adding the option to the section specific options file. Currently, this feature is only available for desktop users, but if you feel this could be a great thing for mobile users as well, let us know in the comments section at the bottom, and we will happily add another option to turn it on for mobile devices as well.
