Baseball and softball live scoring beta this spring

January 7, 2015   by Mike Fratto

We're excited to continue the development of our stats entry app with the beta version of baseball and softball live scoring this spring.

In recent months we've been doing a lot of internal testing and have also worked with a small group of initial beta testers. We have the basics covered but need to keep an eye out for the off-script things that can happen in a game. It's hard to anticipate every situation, and we all know pretty much anything can happen, like in 2013 when Brewers shortstop Jean Segura "stole" first base and almost stole second twice in the same inning. I'm not sure if anybody knew that was even possible before it happened.

Key features are:

  • input plays with the same commands you are accustomed to
  • field graphic shows you batter, baserunners, and defensive alignment without toggling
  • baseball and softball are treated separately so there's no need to edit pregame settings like number of innings
  • make one-for-one subs like pinch hitter, pinch runner, or pitching change from the Add Play screen with two easy clicks
  • print HTML or PDF box score and play by play
  • download PDF, packed file, and XML

How can you test?

We already have a list of over 150 people that have expressed interest over the years. If you want to join or check that you're on it, shoot me an email. We need your help, especially if your teams have a knack for unusual plays!

I'll send the group an email with instructions later this month ahead of the first games getting going.
