Marketplace revenue is up

Revenue is up, and I am not talking about PrestoSports' revenue. I'm talking about the revenue we are paying out to our clients, the revenue that your website is producing for your institution!

We first launched our online marketplace in 2008 and have seen consistent growth each year. Last year we paid out almost triple the amount of revenue than we did our first year. And the really exciting thing is that this year we are on track to absolutely smash our yearly records.

The great thing about this increase in revenue is what is causing it. When we first started our online marketplace, the focus was on gear sold through an online store along with photos. This was a good solid start, but it largely depended on a team making a championship run in order to see growth.

However, starting in 2013 when we launched paid forms, we saw our clients open up all kinds of new streams to produce revenue. I've seen clients set up up paid forms for everything from camps, tickets, awards banquets, clinics, club dues, golf tournaments, booster clubs, fitness center memberships and more. No longer is revenue exclusive for those hosting large national events or enjoying major championship runs. Your traditional events on campus are showing the ability to out-produce everything we have previously seen.

Mintonette Sports, a volleyball club in Ohio, has been using paid forms since they were first launched to manage their camps.

"The online payments not only make it easier to manage our camps, but we've seen a large increase in new attendees," Mintonette Club Director Max Miller noted. "We've found that allowing parents to register and pay online increases the chances they will enroll in our camp, compared to filling out a paper registration or sending money with their child the day of the camp. Parents are busy and they want to be able to complete everything online and not think about it again. New campers are very important to us because a lot of our marketing is through word of mouth."

Division III institution the University of Mount Union started using paid forms for fans to purchase game tickets in the fall of 2013.

"The service had made things easier for fans to get and pay for tickets," Sports Information Directory Lenny Reich said. "Paid forms also made it easier for staff to track tickets and fill orders quickly. I would say we are just scratching the surface and look forward to the future."

Jason Sullivan, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at Bryant University, has been using paid forms for the Bulldogs' tickets and summer camp needs.

"I love the entire form feature offered by PrestoSports," Sullivan said. "It has allowed us to quickly put together simple online registrations for fan buses and student ticket signups, as well as provide our fans with an opportunity to purchase tickets directly within our athletic web site. An added benefit we have found is being able to collect the data from these forms which has helped us communicate more efficiently with our ticket holders and fans."

Setting up a paid form on your site is easy. First, just fill out this form. Then use the enhanced form content type to customize what information you want to collect along with the fees for submitting a form.

This summer we are working on even more improvements to enhanced forms to make setting these up and managing every submission even easier. We hope you give it a try and start to see the revenue that many of our clients have already tapped into.
