Standings tiebreakers get an overhaul

May 27, 2014   by Neil Sleight

With this week's software release, we are adding the ability to sort the order of each team in your standings by many different rules at the same time. The idea behind this is that conferences sometimes have very specific rules about how to break ties in conference standings. Many times those rules vary sport-to-sport and even sometimes season-to-season. Now our standings will allow you to add all kinds of different rules to sort the teams by.

You can set this up on your site when you choose to edit the contents of the standings - you will see the "Switch to sort rules" option:

Once you switch to the new sorting rules, you can choose from our list of rules and order them however you would like. The rules have a drag-n-drop ability so you can use your mose to drag them into any order you want:

You can leave your existing standings with our old standings rules if you'd like. If you change to the new tiebreaker approach, you won't be able to go back to the old approach, and all new standings will use the new approach to breaking ties.

We hope this will help all of our conference members to get their teams sorted exactly as their bylaws stipulate.
