Awards voting tool gets a makeover

April 10, 2012   by AnnMarie Person

Some of you may have heard already that we have been working hard on improving our awards system and the new voting tool will be a huge step forward in this area. When using our conference awards system, the new voting tool allows you to more easily pick your winners or cast votes for your various all-conference or player of the week nominees.

What's new?

The voting tool is another example of an improved PrestoSports feature that is essentially designed entirely from your feedback. We've heard you say that the current tool is hard to read, the page gets too long and bulky, votes made are hard to follow and other suggestions, so we decided to make some changes.

Keep reading below to learn about the details of what's new.

Below are some highlights to make even your least savvy computer user enjoy voting!

  • New drag-n-drop functionality - Just drag your nominees over to the voting box on the right to cast a vote or move back and forth between voting and unranked.
  • Stricter self-voting rules - Despite warnings, coaches continued to vote for their own nominees. Whether intentional or unintentional, we've made it easier to enforce those rules.
  • Hide and show stats - You can expand or hide the stats in both the nominee and voting boxes to make both columns more manageable with your favorite nominees.
  • Email and print final votes - Before submitting your votes, you can now ask to have an email sent showing your picks or print your picks right from your voting screen.
  • More visually appealing page - It just looks much better!
  • Continued XML stats integration - We've continued to use XML stats for your awards and are working on improving the functionality and sorting of this feature.
  • And more!

What's next?

Now that the first phase of the improved tool is about to go live, we're looking forward to making even more enhancements to the awards platform overall.

Our next steps for the voting tool are to be able to sort by several different categories and separate overall and conference stats individually.

Furthermore, you will soon be able to make multiple nominations at once, bulk copy and move awards, and then start on any other features we hear back from you as being important.

As always, your feedback is vital to our development, so please continue to let us know of anything on your wish list and we'll try and make it happen.
