New and improved scoreboards

April 5, 2011   by Greg Blake

During the site launch process, the project managers at PrestoSports are always excited to come across new ideas to pass on to our developers.

For a while, as a department, we knocked around the idea of enhancing our scoreboards. However, it was a struggle to come to a solution that met our standards. We knew that the scoreboard had to slide in some way to engage fans, but at the same time it could not involve Flash (knowing that Flash cannot be seen on many popular devices these days).

Well now we finally have the answer! Through the past few months we have built three different scoreboard layouts that our recently launched sites have started to feature.

The first is the single event scoreboard.  This one is best suited for an institution or single-sport conference.  The Bryant Bulldogs redesigned site is one that displays this perfectly across the top.

The second is the two-box scoreboard, ideal for institutions that want to display more than one event at a time.  San Francisco has taken full advantage of this new scoreboard by displaying it the entire width of its site directly underneath their rotator.

The third is the conference scoreboard.  With several events going on from either one sport or all different sports on any given day, you need a place where fans can interact with scores.  US Lacrosse as a single-sport site and the NAC as a full conference are two sites displaying this new conference scoreboard.

Please be aware that these new scoreboards were each designed with a specific style of site in mind, and all will not fit on every site. We cannot adjust the graphics on your site to squeeze one in, which is why we built scoreboards of different sizes to fit the existing space on your site.

We are always looking for feedback on ways to improve our sites. Please continue to share your creative ideas with us!
