When live stats meets video streaming

PrestoSports has partnered with Ursinus College, Meredith College, Pomona College and Simpson College to incorporate video streaming in PrimeTime, our live stats viewer.

Video is the future of the athletics website and we want to make sure our clients have premium technology available to them. This feature is not only a great way to engage fans, but a better, free way to stream video than the alternatives.

"It made the most sense to have our live video interface with our live stats," said Jim Wagner, Sports Information Director at Ursinus. "I'm a big proponent of the PrestoSports live stats. They look good, they're easy to use. Having that live video option now means that people don't have to open up two windows. They can open up the one window, play the video and have the scores and live stats in front of them."

When we develop a new feature, some of the goals we keep in mind are to ease the workload of our clients and enhance the fan experience. Our Ustream integration hits on both of these themes in a big way.

"It makes our lives easier because we don't have a score or clock as part of our live video," Wagner said. "So it serves the secondary function of being able to provide scores and statistics while the game is going on."

Your Ustream channel is seemlessly embedded into PrimeTime without any loss in quality of the video stream. That, combined with the original PrimeTime features, provides family, friends, fans and alumni everything they need to follow your games all in one place.

"This season was our first go with live video," Wagner said. "Ustream is good quality video and it's free. It's smooth, the broadcast runs well, I've noticed no problems whatsoever. Being able to unify your live stats and your video works out pretty well."

The improved graphics in PrimeTime include a Video panel and your Ustream channel included in the viewer. Users will still be able to click through the existing panels in PrimeTime to see in-depth stats and analysis while the game is broadcasting. When they do, the video is minimized to the bottom-left section of the player, still available for viewing. Clicking on the minimized stream will return the video to full size.

As a reminder, our live stats platform is open enrollment, meaning customers can purchase it at any time and don't have to be a website client to take advantage of PrestoSports PrimeTime. You can contact me to learn more.
