Make your photos available for sale online

October 28, 2010   by Mike Donlin

When I was a Sports Information Director, parents and student-athletes would stop by the office asking about the wonderful photos that appeared on the website, in media guides and in game programs. Sometimes they’d see the shoebox of images sitting on my desk.

Without fail, they’d ask where they could purchase the photos. Often there was no best answer. I could hand them a duplicate or email the file to print, but would I be violating an NCAA rule? I could send them a link to a third party Photo Store that our photographer was working with, but that didn’t seem to work either.

Today, there’s a simple solution. A quick and easy way to sell your photos through your website.

PrestoSports now accepts the upload of full size images. Add those photos through Game day, mark them for sale and feature them throughout the site. Whether they are posted in galleries or as part of your story, a “Buy Now” icon will appear – signaling to parents, fans and student-athletes that this photo is available to purchase. The consumer clicks the icon and then sees the multiple print, frame and other options available.

There are no additional steps. Just upload your photos, mark them for sale and the system will do the rest.

Washington College had been posting photo galleries of game shots from student-assistants both on the site and on facebook. By marking the images in these galleries for sale, fans have ordered photos, bringing new revenue into the department.
