August 20, 2010   by Katie Butz

As we approach the end of the summer we are proud to announce the release of version 4.0.0 as well as some great new features!  One you may have heard of is article: rich options, especially the Facebook like button! With these options we have provided our users more control over how releases appear on their site.  Other options include image width and caption, headline style, and the choice to show date.

Q. How do I turn on the Facebook Like button for all of my releases?
A. You can turn on the Facebook like button by clicking the [customize] wiki at the bottom of any release, then “/options”.  Here, you can change “Show Facebook Like?” to true as well as control other options such as image size, image caption, and more. Keep an eye out for more options to come!

As you’re getting ready for the start of the new season you may be coming across more questions.  Below we’ve provided some common questions and answers that we often see come through support that might help you out!

Q. I’ve entered my schedule in Game day but how come it’s not showing up on the site? I’ve changed my secondary navigation to point to the correct season.
A. It’s most likely not appearing because there is no schedule in the website tab.  In the Website tab, navigate to the appropriate sport and season and add a schedule: network.  Name it “schedule” and be sure to fill out the sport, year, and team and the events will appear automatically.

Q. I’m trying to add a schedule in Game day but it is telling me “The path /sports/golf/2010-11/schedule does not exist”. How do I add my schedule?
A. You are getting this message because there is no schedule file in the 2010-11season.  In the website tab, navigate to the appropriate sport and season.  Add a schedule: manual and name it “schedule”. You can then go back to the Game day tab and add the events.

Q. What’s the difference between a schedule: network and a schedule: manual?
A. Schedule: networks are used for team sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, and Football. Schedule: manuals are used for individual sports such as Golf, Swimming and Diving, and Cross Country which are not tied to the PrestoSports Network.

Q.  When creating an event in Game day, I’ve added the opponent’s name consistent with the network but this is not how I want it to appear on my schedule. How can I change this?
A.  To customize how the name appears on your site’s schedule, you can click the “Customize Name” button located to the right of the team name field and enter the opponent’s name as you would like it to appear.

Q. How do I get the newest schedules to appear in my Calendar or Upcoming Events/Scoreboard areas?
A. To add the newest schedules, [edit content] of the “composite” schedule located in the root directory and in each sports section.  In the “Add schedule” field, type in the path to the schedule or search for it using the “…” button.  Don’t forget to click “Add schedule” before you save changes!

Q. How come the roster I created for the upcoming season is not appearing as it did last season?
A. This is mostly likely because the template from last year’s roster was not applied to the new one.  To do this you can [edit details] of the old roster, copy the text in the “template” field, and paste it into the details page of the new roster.

Q. I changed all of my secondary navigation to point to the new season.  How can viewers access past season’s information?
A. What you can do is setup an Archives pages.  This will be an article: rich that will serve as a table of contents where you can link to past season’s schedules, news, rosters, etc.  Click here for an example!

Q.  How do I setup my standings for the new season?
A. This would be something we would do for you on our end.  Email support@prestosports.com and we can get you setup.

Q. What format and size of videos can I upload?
A. Videos can be high definition, up to 732.4 MB in size, up to 10 minutes in length. The system will convert mov, qt, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, avi, asf, asx, and vob to the web friendly FLV format

Q. I have created my form but when I test to make sure it works, the answers are not appearing correctly.  Am I missing a step?
A.  Your answers may not be appearing for two reasons.  Have you given each field a unique name? If you copy and pasted from an outside source, did you paste into notepad before pasting into the form editor? Also remember to save previous submissions before making edits to a form!
